Our goal is to get a surgeon general’s warning in every window at tanning bed salons. Help us out here! SIGN OUR PETITION! That’s me on the right, Miss Melanoma. Who am I you say? Well, I took on the identity of Miss Melanoma to raise awareness of skin cancer. And I’m glad you’re here. Look, I’m not going to spend a lot of time with intros here, but here are the high points I want you to get before you go anywhere on this site: 1. If you have melanoma, yeah, this sucks, but at least we’re not alone. Here I’ve compiled as much information as I can to provide you with information and resources to link you to organizations and other survivors who have this cancer or are here to support survivors. 2. This may not seem like you’re typical cancer site, but that’s sort of the point. Cancer survivors don’t fit into neat little categories, so my goal was to create a place for you to find what you need to learn, explore, rant, curse, whatever, at cancer. 3. Life doesn’t end at cancer. This site is here because working through this diagnosis together will not only help each other out, but possibly even save a few lives. So, hang out, look around, browse our shop- (it helps keep mm.com going), comment on my blog, email me a question, whatever you need. 4. We all need a reminder every once in a while of how lucky we are. That's right, I said it. And it’s why we use the word “Lucky” so much on the site – because, believe it or not, there’s always somebody worse off than you. And yes, that’s cheesy and corny and all that, but it’s also true. Ok, that’s it. All we ask of you is to be nice and play fair with the other kids. AND, (okay, you caught us!) to help us promote our ulterior motive that YOU can help us achieve. Click the LUCKY pink clover and come right on in. You’re welcome here, no matter where you are in your journey. Above all, remember that melanoma is not a death sentence. You’re living with this diagnosis, not dieing from it. |
