The problem with most melanoma sites is that they’re designed
for people who don’t know if they have melanoma, or for people
who are just trying to find out more about it (like friends and
family of patients), and not the patients themselves who need more
info. But here’s a good start for those of us experiencing
skin cancer.
Melanoma International Foundation
Our newest buddies are the good people at the Melanoma Internation Foundation. Their mission is to reduce the burden of melanoma and bring hope to the journey. You should not have to walk this path alone. Check them out and send them some love.
Planet Cancer
This is a site designed specifically for young adults with cancer, or, as the Planet Cancer people call it, "that age between pediatrics and geriatrics." This site includes a lot of humor, some "Real World Advice," and movie and book reviews.
American Cancer
Society
Helpful site, especially for finding support after the diagnosis.
Even more helpful is calling and speaking with someone there: you’ll
be amazed at the resources they can connect you with.
InteliHealth
I like the treatment and prognosis section of this site.
Lance
Armstrong Foundation
Great site, lots of resources and a space to share. Lance Armstrong
has a great view of dealing with cancer. Be careful on the survivor
stories, though, they can be a bit negative at times, but overall
I think very informative.
Cancer Care
Lots of help and cancer services for patients. Highly recommended.
Cancer Hope
Not the best site, but the services offered are amazing. I highly
recommend calling for support services or to be connected with a
cancer survivor to talk to.
National Cancer Institute
Special page just for Melanoma patients including treatments and
stats.
SkinCancerNet
Very objective view of treatment and therapy.
Melanoma Patient’s Information
Page
Some good information, but I think the biggest benefit of this page
is the Guest Book where patients share info.
Melanoma Resources
A great list of resources and info for patients.
